Between 266,000 and 450,000 high school students flooded the streets across France on Tuesday in what organisers called "act 3" of an ongoing student movement. Classes were cancelled at several campuses as clashes broke out, with police making 488 arrests.
President Emmanuel Macron called an emergency meeting with ministers at the Elysee Palace in response to the unrest. Demonstrators from Saint-Denis to Paris said they were fighting for improved conditions, with many voicing deep discontent at current conditions.
